"

our vision

"

To provide a holistic approach in caring for our kupuna for a healthy and meaningful aging process.

About Us

As Hawaii’s elderly population continues to surpass the national average, we realized that there was a growing number of seniors in need of assistance but were not ready to move to a care facility. Although care facilities are available, some seniors still wanted to age in place. Their home became a source of comfort and joy.

Kupuna Care Hawaii was founded in 2009 with the simple goal to keep Hawaii’s aging community where they are happiest: at home. Kupuna Care Hawaii is a family owned and operated business with two generations of health care experience. We promise to treat each senior who joins our Kupuna Care Hawaii family with compassion, integrity and respect.

Diana Aquino, BSN, RN

President

Diana is the President and Owner of Kupuna Care Hawaii. Diana’s story began as a young child growing up in a home surrounded by kūpuna. Her grandmother, Flora, was one of the first to open a Care Home out in Moanalua Valley in the late 60’s. Diana’s mother then took over the Care Home when she was in Elementary school and Diana would “talk story”, play games, and help prepare meals for the kūpuna. The Care Home residents would come and go over the years, but they were like family, each with their own personality and lesson to teach. Diana was inspired by her mother and grandmother, both Care Home Operators, and decided to pursue a degree in Nursing with an interest in Geriatrics. In the meantime, Diana and her parents opened Kupuna Care Hawaii in 2009. When Diana graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2011, she took over the family business and history was made.

Amelia Ganancial

Director of Operations

Amelia Ganancial is the Director of Operations at Kupuna Care Hawaii. Amelia was still in high school when her older sister, Diana, and her parents opened the home care agency. She left Hawaii to attend college at the University of San Francisco, but would return during school intermissions and help the family business with administrative and clerical tasks. Amelia graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a double major in Hospitality Industry Management and Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She also graduated with a minor in Design. Inspired by her family's work ethic, she moved back to Hawaii in 2022 to help Kupuna Care Hawaii improve and streamline their operations by creating an online presence, developing a caregiving training program, and holding weekly and monthly KPI meetings. Amelia is passionate about building a community that supports family caregivers, who are often sandwiched between two generations that need care.

Kristine Cabudol

Director of Client Care

Kristine is the Director of Care at Kupuna Care Hawaii. Having grown up with the family, Kristine is more than just a “family friend.” Rather, she is a cherished member of the family who shares a similar passion in caring for our kūpuna. Kristine received her license as a Certified Nurse Aide and has 15 years of experience in nursing, caregiver relations, and client care management. She originally came onboard as a caregiver for Kupuna Care Hawaii and paved her way into her current role as Director of Client Care. Kristine was drawn to senior care through personal experience. Her grandparents were an integral part of her childhood and she would visit their house almost every after school. As the years passed and her grandparents’ health declined, she witnessed the roles reverse as her grandparents, who were once her caretakers, became cared for by her parents, aunties, and uncles. Her upbringing motivates her to create a meaningful aging process for Hawaii’s senior community and empower kūpuna to remain independent for as long as possible.
